PlayStation 4 firmware 14.00 has been hacked – First look at BONK HEN
1st November 2026PS4 firmware up to 14.00 hacked by just visiting a single webpage – Full setup video
The PlayStation 4 modding scene has exploded over the past few days. First the Bonk HEN BluRay disk exploit was leaked and now we have a full webkit exploit for firmware version 14.00 that also includes a new release for GoldHEN.
Webkit exploits allow you to mod your console by simply visiting a web page using the PS4 browser. We already had a webkit exploit for firmware versions 11.50 to 13.52 which I made a video about a few weeks ago. This new mod does away with the need for a BluRay disk writer or any other hardware for firmware 14.00, which at the time of making this video was the latest official release version.
So in this video I’ll quickly take you through the steps to get up and running and mod your PS4.
Check Your Firmware Version
First off you need to check what firmware version you’re currently running. On your console go to your Settings and then down to System and then System Information. As long as your firmware is between 6.70 and 14.00, or 4.50 and 5.07 then you’re good to go.
Sony Safe Internet
To start with your console needs to be connected to the Internet. If you can’t go online you’ll need to use a different method such as the BluRay disk mods.
Once you mod your console you need to be careful using it with the PlayStation network and online gaming. If you use any homebrew code or features online you will very likely get your console or account banned. To stop this from happening I would advise setting your Internet connection to use a Sony safe DNS server. This just adds an extra layer of safety on top of anything provided by the GoldHEN system we’ll be using a bit later.
To do this open up your Setting then go to Network Settings. Click the Setup Connection link and then choose your connection type. We now want a custom setup but we’ll use an automatic IP address. We don’t want to specify a DHCP Host but we do need to manually enter our DNS settings.
Set your primary DNS to 45.56.67.85 or 62.210.38.117. These servers will automatically block your console from connecting to any of the Sony systems so your console will not get your PSN account banned. Next set automatic MTU settings and do not specify a proxy server.
Your system will now be safe to run the mod.
Browser Cleaning
You now need to clean your browser. Open the browser app and click the Options button. In here we need to go to the settings section and make sure that allow cookies, enable Javascript and prevent cross-site tracking are checked. Then Delete your cookies and clear your website data. This makes sure that your browser is going to download the latest version of the mod when we visit the page.
Running the Exploit
We’re now ready to run the exploit.
There are a few WebKit variations you can use. If you head over to this web page you’ll get full information about what’s available.
https://consolemods.org/wiki/PS4:Standard_Jailbreak
I’m going to be using the WebKitty version simply because it covers the largest range of firmwares. If you find this doesn’t work for you try one of the others.
All you need to do is type in the exploit web address. I found the
arabpixel.gitlab.io/WebKitty
page worked best for me though they should both be the same.
When the page first loads you’ll see a caching progress counter. Wait until this reaches 100% and then it will automatically start the exploit. This caching means that you can use the exploit from now on without an internet connection.
Once caching is complete you’ll need to select the payload you want to use. GoldHEN is selected by default and that’s what I would advise using. You then need to click the big PlayStation button and the hacking code will start to run.
The exploit doesn’t work every single time and as you can see on screen mine has failed. But the modding site will try to run the code again until it succeeds. If you do get a system hang or the console resets then just open the browser and try again.
Eventually you will see the code reach the end where you’ll get a success message and notifications that GoldHEN has loaded and has set up your FTP server and so on.
At this point you have a fully modded PlayStation 4.
Make sure to bookmark the web page as you’ll need to reactivate the mod each time the console is powered off. Sleep mode is fine, but powering down the system or resetting it will unload the exploit and take you back to a stock machine.
If we go back to the main menu you’ll see the GoldHEN section in the upper menu bar. If you head over to that you’ve got the debug settings and package installer for your game backups and all the other great features GoldHEN delivers.
What Next?
So that’s your PS4 modded by just visiting a web page. You can now start playing games from your backup files, loading emulators or any of the other fun things a homebrewed machine can do. Make sure to check out my PS4 playlist to find out how to do all these things.
