15th June 2024Free Streaming TV, Movies and Series – DigiBox D3 Plus Android TV Box Review
In this post we’re going to be having a look at the Digibox D3 Plus. This is an Android TV box that offers thousands of live streaming television channels and a full video on demand movie and series library without the need for any further subscriptions. So let’s have a look at what you get and how well it performs.
To be upfront about everything, this unit was sent to me for review by DigiBox but I am going to give you my full and honest opinions off the device and the services it offers.
At around £300 or $300 this is quite expensive for an Android TV box. But of course it’s the streaming video services that you’re actually paying for. So first of all let’s have a look at the actual hardware and its performance as a standard Android device.
What’s In The Box
The unit is shipped and a smart box and inside that you get the basic Android TV unit along with a simple but quality made remote control unit. You also get a power brick and an HDMI cable with a very basic set off installation instructions. So basically everything you need to get up and running.
Looking around the unit we’ve got a status indicator LED on the front. 4 USB 2.0 ports and a micro SD card port on one side. And on the back we have the power input, a digital audio output, our HDMI 2.1 connection, gigabit Ethernet, audio output and an infrared receiver extension port. So overall that gives us a good range of connection options to set this up within any home media centre environment.
As a bonus at the moment in June 2024 you’ll not only get a great price on the unit, but DigiBox will also throw in a mini keyboard and trackpad device along with a 64GB USB stick for free. So make sure you check out their website to see if this offer is still available and I’ll drop a direct link to the sales page in the description below.
Technical Specifications
As far as the actual hardware goes it’s a fairly standard Android TV box.
It’s powered by the Allwinner H618 processor which has four ARM Cortex-A53 cores running at 1.5 GHz. This is teamed with the ARM Mali-G31 MP2 graphics system and 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM so it’s going to work great as a TV and media centre with up to 6K video support, but you’re not going to be playing AAA games on it.
The inbuilt storage consists of 64GB of EMMC memory but you can use the micro SD card slot to expand this to really whatever you want.
WiFi uses both the 2.4GHz and 5.8Ghz bands and is WiFi6 enabled to give you really good performance with the two external antennae hopefully providing good reception.
So overall the DigiBox D3 Plus is a very competent media device.

Is It Legal?
The big question of course with all of the streaming content is, is it legal?
In terms of the actual Android TV box itself then that is perfectly OK. It’s a standard Android TV box running Android version 12 so there are absolutely no problems with the legality of the hardware.
The area we do have to have I think about though, is the subscription free streaming service. This is giving us access to literally thousands off commercial television stations, premium movies, television series and anime productions. If you have a look at the DigiBox website, an some of their distributor websites, you will get some information regarding the legality of these CAT apps.
According to the information I’ve found online all of the streaming media partners that DigiBox uses are fully licenced to provide the service and content that they do. Having said that I would advise you do some digging for yourself to answer any queries that you may have. I can only quote from the information that I’ve discovered.
Is It Worth It?
The final question I guess is, is it worth the premium price?
This is going to boil down to your personal preference. The quality of the service you will get using the CAT apps is as good as any of the premium subscription services such as Netflix or Disney Plus. The price premium for the DigiBox unit roughly equates to about a year’s worth of subscription fees, but of course is a one off payment with no recurring charges.
From a range of content perspective you could argue that the DigiBox service provides both live TV streaming and premium content which may well put it slightly ahead of some of the other services.
But at the end of the day the choice is going to be yours.
